I know it's been a while since I've submitted anything, and the photo of this is pretty low quality (the camera was my old iPod Touch, and the lighting was by my lamp at night. Unfortunately it made glare on the page), but I figured for starters, it was better than not submitting anything. So here we go!
This character is a mercenary wandering the wastelands. He starts this story motivated only by survival (and by extension money). His combat style is very aggressive use of sword and magic, and dexterity. His armour is mostly made from chitin from the monsters out there with him; all of the scales and plates that make up his armour are cut from them. The look was made from looking at lamellar armours from the middle east and abroad.
This is without any additions of equipment like belts, pouches, any travelling cloak over top, etc, and likely will not be the final draft of the character.
Something I am likely to change in the future is the top of his boots (behind the chitin plates), may edit or tweak gloves a bit, and may give him some form of protection from sand over his eyes, such as goggles. There may also be some changes to his actual chest armour, like not making it a mix of scale mail and lamellar styled plates like that, and possibly making the thigh armour a more seperate piece (like on samurai armour). After this I may do a series of thumbnails to find what works best, but, I really felt like sitting down and making something more solid than that, so I did.
Also I would like to work on my cloth textures... before the plates over his calves and forearms, the poofy bits are supposed to be loose clothes (I hope that's clear but I'm not sure), and the cloth over his face is based around the concept of a turtleneck, but keeping the weather and sun out, not the cold. I hope to practice that more and get better at it.
